| OSAS Version 6.05 Enhancement Highlights |
The latest version of OPEN SYSTEMS Accounting Software (OSAS®) uses PRO/5® and Visual
PRO/5®, the latest technology from BASIS International. Version 6.05 Resource Manager includes
the functionality of the Print Manager application and Executive Information Summary (formerly sold
as a separate application). There are also several feature enhancements including a date rollover at
midnight, user logging, improved UNIX installation, and the ability to keep track of the last
printer used.
The version 6.05 OSAS ODBC Kit includes the new driver from BASIS (version 2.3), and the Report
Applets have been re-written to use the new driver.
Favorites Menu
Allows you to list the features you use the most on one menu and execute those features from there.
Print Preview
Brings up a GUI window that shows what the printout is going to look like and gives you the option of whether or not to print it.
User Logging
It’s easy to keep track of who is using the system. You’ll know where users are currently working as well as the last menu option they used, especially valuable during posting and backup procedures. This capability is very helpful in environments where many users are performing a variety of operations.
Executive Information Summary
Want to know the value of your inventory? General Ledger ratios? Cash, accounts receivable, or accounts payable balances? How about Friday afternoon’s sales? Or the profit from product A compared to product B? No problem. You won’t have to dig for or calculate numbers. The Executive Information Summary (EIS) features of Resource Manager 6.05 let you know in a few moments just where your business stands and how well it’s doing.
EIS gives you the ability to consolidate, calculate, and display summary information based on data files from other applications. You can quickly pull facts from any OSAS applications or vertical software modules, creating a customizable "dashboard" screen. You can compare information across departments, companies, years, quarters, days, or even hours and minutes.
You don't need to know how to use OSAS modules to use Executive Information Summary. You can display the desired information with a few keystrokes directly through the Resource Manager EIS menu. You can also access EIS dashboards with the F4 "Other Commands" function if you are using one of the OSAS modules.
Print Manager
Reports take up a lot of your time, paper, and storage space. But there’s a more efficient way to print and store your reports: Print Manager, the print management tool for OSAS. The Print Manager functionality in Resource Manager 6.05 lets you save your reports to a file and print them later, giving you a complete report library.
Resource Manager’s Print Manager feature intercepts your reports when you print them to a file, maintains a directory of all active reports on file, and archives them for permanent storage. The system will track every occurrence of a report being printed, archived, or deleted when executed from the queue. With Print Manager, you can rely on the same high level of security that’s found in OSAS. All Open Systems access codes that were assigned to the report are fully incorporated. You’ll have complete confidence through password security; a user cannot print, archive, edit or delete a print job without authorization.
You'll have the ability to search reports for specific pieces of text such as key words, phrases, customer names, part number, and vendors. You can then print any pages - and only those pages - containing that text. Once the text is found, you have the option to print the page; continue the search; or, if searching by batch, print all occurrences of that text automatically. You save time and paper by printing only the information you need.
